Hailing from Greece, the Nymphes rocks a thundering 6 true analog oscillators in a compact form. Featuring multiple ways to assign LFOs to various parameters quickly, this monster of a synth allows you to build sounds unlike other synths can in this form factor. Dreadbox* has created a true modern classic with this synth.
The Process
• As I was building out a light synth pedalboard to use in sessions in Nashville, a problem arose. I needed a small format, polyphonic analog synth that I could mount on my pedalboard for when analog was the only way to go. I started hunting for a solution.
• After doing a deep dive into the interwebs, I finally found the Nymphes and purchased one. So began the start of our a love story.
• I spent about 6 months experimenting with it in the studio, and finally felt confident enough to build out a collection of presets that fit my needs. The goal was to create usable, interesting, and firmly analog tones that I could quickly use in sessions.
• When I finished my first batch, I went through and carefully sampled it for my Nord keyboard, using Universal 610 preamps and light compression.
The final result is a group of samples that breathed analog warmth, while having access to the flexibility of Nord keyboard’s effects and portability.
